About Alison
I am a woman excited about birth and all it has to offer. Graduating from an early childhood education program, I quickly realized children would touch a special part of my life. I was a professional nanny for five years before starting a family of my own.
My doula journey started in 2006 with the birth of our second daughter. My husband and I decided to hire a doula and it was an eye opening experience (in a positive way). Soon after her birth, I dove into researching everything I could find out about doulas. Shortly after my research I became entrhalled with this concept and wanted to pass my enthusiasm on to other women and their families. I started attending births for close families, and friends.
I became a certified labor doula through Dona International in 2008, and Destination Doula Services was born. As my journey progressed I fell more in love with birth and the process. I felt a pull to dive even deeper. Shortly after my certification I started an apprenticeship with a midwife. My experiences have all been fulfilling. Currently I apprentice with a local midwife in northeast Ohio. In tandem with my apprenticeship I am studying under Elizabeth Davis*.
I am committed to educating you in your pregnancy and labor journey!
